Designing a sustainable and practical home that reflects our culture and personality

Welcome to the CynOli Home
Cozy, practical and influenced by Haitian culture, this home runs on God's love, laughter and a whole lot of coffee

Home design
Pleasantly comfortable, cozy and functional
The first thing I think about when designing the rooms in our CynOli Home is FUNCTION. Then I think about the feeling and style. For instance, I love to have friends and family over for diner for a game night. The size of the dining table and living room arrangement must take that into account. For feeling, I want the house to feel inviting, cozy and to remind us of our dear homeland, <<Haiti chérie>>, through various décor elements.
Sustainable living
Acting locally for a global impact
In the greatest scope of things, our home is this lovely water planet we call Earth. Sustainable living describes a lifestyle that tries to reduce someone's or a community's use of Earth's natural resources. We will aim to adopt methods and behaviors that reduces our carbon footprint in the CynOli Home.
Environmentalist Yvon Chouinard makes a great point: “Going back to a simpler life based on living by sufficiency rather than excess is not a step backward.”

Repairs, renovation & DIYs
#BὸsCyn
<<bὸs>> in creole is someone who practices a trade such as masonry, carpentry or plumbing. We will definitely be doing some "handyman" work around the house. I look forward to sharing our repairs, renovation and DIY projects with you (Although, we shall know our limits and know when to call a professional, lol).
